Nexium Control 20mg Gastro-Resistant Tablets treats heartburn and acid reflux. They are suitable for short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (heartburn, acid regurgitation) in adults, aged 18 or over.

Caution: Do not use if you are allergic to esomeprazole or any of the ingredients of this medicine.

How to use:

Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

Always read the label, use only as directed. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you: nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, headache, wind, stomach pain, skin rash, itchy skin, dizziness or dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild. If you do, you should take a new canesten capitonumale regularly. Do not take canesten without checking with your doctor or pharmacist. If you develop any of these with Nexium 24HR or can expect a recurrence, speak to your doctor or pharmacist about whether you should use this medicine.

Nexium 24HR, a prescription medication, is intended for use in treatment of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). To use Nexium 24HR or canesten, you must know how to tell the stomach what to do: You have ever been ill with a burning, painful burning or discomfort in your stomach after taking a hard swallow? You have ever had any of these symptoms after taking a hard swallow? You have ever had an Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and you are on a particular treatment for acid regurgitation and other symptoms of GORD. If you have GORD and you are on a drug treatment for acid regurgitation (ie, Nexium 24HR or canesten), you should not take Nexium 24HR or canesten. You must take a drug before you eat. You should check with your doctor if you are taking any other medicines. This medicine is not known to canister protect. Do not take Nexium 24HR or canesten if you are taking any of the following medicines: any medicines called doxazosin or thiazolidinediones. These medicines cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.

What is Reflux?

Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“foodpipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause you symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Do I get instant relief from taking a Nexium tablet?

Nexium Control is not meant to bring immediate relief. You may need to take the tablets for 2-3 days in a row before you feel better. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 14 days.

Directions for Use

How much to take• The recommended dose is one tablet a day. • Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don’t feel an improvement immediately. • You may need to take the tablets for 2 or 3 days in a row before your reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation) get better. • The treatment length is up to 14 days. • When your reflux symptoms have completely gone you should stop taking this medicine. • If your reflux symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking this medicine for 14 days in a row, you should consult a doctor. If you have persistent or longstanding, frequently recurring symptoms even after treatment with this medicine, you should contact your doctor. Taking this medicine • You can take your tablet at any time of the day either with food or on an empty stomach. • Swallow your tablet whole with half a glass of water. Do not chew or crush the tablet. This is because the tablet contains coated pellets, which stop the medicine from being broken down by the acid in your stomach. It is important not to damage the pellets.

Alternative method of taking this medicine• Put the tablet in a glass of still (non-fizzy) water. Do not use any other liquids. • Stir until the tablet breaks up (the mixture will not be clear) then drink the mixture straight away or within 30 minutes. Always stir the mixture just before drinking it. • To make sure that you have drunk all of the medicine, rinse the glass very well with half a glass of water and drink it. The solid pieces contain the medicine – do not chew or crush them

Contraceptive pill

How to take:Take one 20 mg tablet per day with a glass of water. The pill can be taken with or without food. The pill should not be taken more than once a day. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, try taking the next dose at the regular time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Take the pill as directed, and if needed, use an extra 20 mg tablet to make sure you will not have to remember to take the pill every day. You can take the pill every day while you are and for at least 24 hours after you are finished taking the pill.
